Non-woven wallpaper, panoramic wallpaper, classic wallpaper... Are you confused by all the different names for wallpaper? We'd like to introduce you to non-woven wallpaper. What is it exactly? What are its advantages? We'll tell you all about it right now.
What is non-woven wallpaper?
Non-woven wallpaper is made from a combination of compressed cellulose and polyester fibers. These are covered with a layer of vinyl. Thicker than conventional wallpaper, it is also easier to handle and install.
What are the advantages of non-woven wallpaper?
Before non-woven wallpaper, wallpapering was almost a chore. You'd have to get out a wallpapering table, cut the strips, brush them with glue, fold the wallpaper neatly so it didn't wrinkle, and so on. This often ended up with glue all over your fingers, and the strips more or less well laid if the wall wasn't even and the paper didn't want to tear.
Thanks to the heavier weight of non-woven wallpaper and its composition, all that is behind you. Forget the wallpapering table! The glue is applied directly to the wall and the strips are cut directly on the wall. This saves you time and energy, and means you can get the job done quickly and neatly.
Another major advantage of non-woven wallpaper is its durability! Whether it's during installation or once it's on your wall, non-woven wallpaper won't fail you. If your wall has a few small dents, they'll be invisible under this type of wallpaper. Placed in your kitchen, it's perfectly washable, waterproof and won't peel off. Practical, it can also be used in your child's bedroom without fear if he or she draws on the walls.
How do I hang non-woven wallpaper?
The most difficult part of installing non-woven wallpaper is preparing the wall. It's best to have removed the previous wallpaper. After that, everything becomes simple and straightforward. All you have to do is spread the glue on your wall or the section of wall you wish to decorate. Place your roll of non-woven wallpaper at the top of the wall, then unroll it while pressing it against the wall with a wallpapering brush. Once at the bottom of the wall, cut the strip with a cutter and repeat the same procedure.
